Favorite Apple Pie Recipe

It’s November! Unreal! This year is almost over but these last 4 months of the year are always our favorite!

Now it’s well established that I’m not some five star chef so I rely on online recipes to guide me through. With fall and Thanksgiving coming along, pies are one of my favorite things to make. I think if anything, people can count on me for a decent Apple Pie. I may not personally prefer apple pies, but it just feels right for the season and if any apples are leftover after we go apple-picking, I just use those.

My absolute favorite Apple Pie recipe is by: AllReceipes.com

Ingredients:

  • 9in Pastry Pie Crust
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 8 apples (peeled, cored, sliced)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

* So step 2 says to pour the mixture over the crust but I pour it over the apples, then cover with the lattice work crust and brush some over the top.

3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Let me know if you try it or if you have any suggestions of your own! 🙂
