Favorite Self Tanners

Welp with our approach into the month of May, the warmer temps can only mean one thing.

It’s self tanner season!

Somehow, the second it’s warm enough to even show skin, we all want/need to have a golden glow. Where did we get this glow? Who even started this trend? Can I speak to a manager about this? Does anyone even need the sun for a tan anymore?

No. They don’t.

And as much as I complain about this ridiculous notion – I’d sooner be covered head to toe in 80 degree weather, than wear shorts or a dress without a little tan. So today, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite self tanners what are quick & easy for those of us that can’t fathom spending hours lathering ourselves only to wind up with orange streaks anyway. 🙂

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Pro Perfect Salon Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist

Personally – I prefer using a mist as opposed to the lotions and mousses. I think when held at the right distance, you get an even coating and avoid the streaks and unevenness that some people speak of. That’s why this one is the one I use most, especially in the pre-summer months when my skin hasn’t seen the sun in years but still wants to act like it.

This one can be found at any drugstore, I get mine at Walgreens and it’s like $13 and lasts a good amount of time. I sometimes spray my whole body with it but most of the time I do this weird thing where I only spray my legs so they’re tan when I’m going to wear a dress or shorts or something. Mostly because I feel like my arms get more sun than my legs so for that purpose, this is my number 1.  The only thing I would warn about is the smell. When spraying your entire body, you should do it in a well ventilated room because it can be overwhelming. Also, stand on a towel so the bottom of your feet don’t turn orange from stepping on the spray that lands on the floor. It does take a few sprays to get the color you want, but as I said for the purpose of just having a pre-summer glow, it’s pretty awesome.

Million Dollar Tan Cabana Tan Extreme

The next two are two that I’ve tried & adored mostly for the same reasons and I usually switch between them based on time & convenience of obtaining. Million Dollar Tan can only be bought online as far as I know. You can buy it straight from their website or you can buy it online at Ulta.

It gives you an awesome glow without that orangey tint. Don’t be intimidated by the word Extreme, it’s a perfectly natural tan every time. It’s just skips the need for multiple applications and gives you the color you want from the start. Application is super easy because it glides on smoothly and to top it all off, it doesn’t smell or streak badly.

St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse

Last but not least, it’s the ever classic St. Tropez. This one can be bought at any beauty supplier. I go to Ulta or Sephora as mentioned above. It’s more expensive than the other two mentioned on the list but I feel like it’s the longest lasting. The website says it’s streak free but it does happen if you move around to much without the product drying. Still, the color you get from it is gorgeous and there’s a reason everyone loves it.

There you have it! As always, let me know your favorites – if you’ve tried any of the products mentioned above, and anything else you can think of. 🙂
