Collectively, we can all agree that this time of the year is something special. There’s an air of warmth and comfort that surrounds us as we’re surrounded by loved ones and family, music and food.
November and December, as with almost everyone else, are our busiest months. Our schedule goes: 3 back-to-back birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Birthday, New Years. It can be easy to get lost in the shuffle and not fully embrace what this season is all about.
Giving!
Here’s a list of 5 ways you can give back this season and spread a little bit of love to those who may not be as fortunate.
1: Donate Unwanted Clothes
This time of year, charities are always looking to take in winter clothes. Take the time to try on what you have in your closet, anything you don’t want or that doesn’t fit, bring to a local shelter or collection box.
2: Volunteer Your Time
Take a few hours of your weekend to volunteer in your community. It can be at a local food banks, animal shelter, nursing home, hospital, etc. Many places appreciate the help.
3: Pay it forward
While in line getting coffee, out at dinner, or even paying for gas – pay for the person behind you. You don’t know how it’ll impact their day.
4: Give Food
Tis the season for pies! Apples, Pumpkin, Blueberry, Rubarb you name it. Bake some and deliver amongst your family and friends.
5: Offer a Hand to Someone in Need
With all the chaos of the holidays offer a hand to someone in need. It could be friends with small children who has no time to grocery shop before Thanksgiving or a teacher, overwhelmed with getting grading done before the holiday break, take a little time to help out and make their day.
In the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it can be hard to take a step back and see what they’re actually about. Take some time to make an impact on others, you never know how good you’ll feel too.
