Transitioning Your Wardrobe: Stylish Ways to Layer for September Weather

Late summer / early fall outfits are some of my favorites. In the mixture of cold and warm weather pieces lies my comfort zone. I find these types of outfits so much cuter than anything you can come up with in the summer! Mixing warm and cold weather pieces in an outfit can be a smart and stylish way to navigate the changing temperatures while creating a versatile and comfortable ensemble that keeps you prepared for any weather surprises.

One approach to this is to start with a base top that suits the colder weather such as a lightweight sweater or long-sleeved top. Then, add a stylish twist by incorporating elements from the warmer season. For example, pair a cozy sweater with a pair of shorts. This combination allows you to stay warm while adding a touch of summery flair.

Another option is layering. Utilize a lightweight button up shirt. For instance, pair a tank top with a pair of jeans. Then throw on a button down shirt (unbuttoned) for an extra layer. This way, you can adjust your outfit as the temperature fluctuates throughout the day.

Accessories and footwear both play a significant role in mixing warm and cold weather pieces. Continue to embrace summer with woven and leather bags, gold jewelry, and silk scarves. Pairing sandals with heavier outfits and closed toed flats with lighter outfits is a great way to continue the mixture of highs and lows.

The key is to strike a balance between the two. Pay attention to fabric weights, colors, and the overall feel of the outfit. Experiment with different combinations until you find a blend that suits your personal style. This way, you can create outfits that are functional, fashionable, and adaptable to changing temperatures.
