My hair is something I can never leave undone. Unfortunately for me, that means I use a lot of heat. In efforts to minimize the use of my styling tools, I’ve made several attempts at different “heatless” styles such as the towel curls, rollers, products like mouse, etc, but they haven’t really done the trick. So over the course of the last 10 months, I’ve focused my efforts on the products I use to keep it healthy, without sacrificing the heat styling.
Prior to this year, I had been using drugstore products. Dove was my go-to because it felt the most “weightless” of them all while keeping my hair seemingly soft. Occasionaly, I’d switch to Pantene or Tresume, but I was just hearing so much about the chemicals they used being bad for you.
Eventually, I decided to invest in Olaplex products. I won’t say these are affordable to all. The prices are certainly higher than the $7.99 shampoo and conditioner from Dove, but I’ve seen a difference I’m happy with.
I made sure to buy the trial sizes of the shampoo and conditioner first in order to test out how it would make my hair feel. I’ve had shampoos in the past make my hair feel too greasy or brittle, so I needed to find something with a balance. The trial sizes lasted me about a month and in that time, I could see that my hair felt fuller. It had a sheen and a bounce that the other products didn’t give.
So I wash my hair every other day and use the Olaplex NO4 Shampoo & NO5 Conditioner with Batiste Bare Dry Shampoo in between washes. Once a week I’ll use the Neutragena Anti-Residue Shampoo for a deep clean on the scalp.
After a shower, I use the Olaplex NO6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme all over, followed by the NO7 Bonding Oil on my ends after I blowdry.
I also purchased the NO3 Hair Perfector to heal my ends. After getting my hair done and noticing breakage happening to the top layer, I needed something to combat the drynes and split ends ASAP and this definetly did the trick. I’ll use this bi-weekly so that I can continue keeping the ends healthy.
Once a month, I’ll also use the OUAI Hair Treatment Mask for Fine to Medium Hair in order to continue combatting the heat damage and revamp the hair.

I feel like there’s been a significant change in my hair’s health. It’s softer, shinier, there’s less breakage, and most importantly, it has life to it again. I chose Olaplex because of all the great things I’d been reading but also because it was the more affordable of the higher end options so it seemed like a natural switch.
I’m currently trying out the trial sizes for Oribe because my hair stylist said it was amazing for hair and it smells SO good, so I’ll keep you posted if I make the switch.
