Our bedroom is often the most overlooked room in the house when it comes to decorating. Aside from aiming to have my bed feel like a cloud, there isn’t a lot that draws you to it. My sheets and comforters have always been white. My blackout curtains are white. I had simple white/glass lamps on wooden nightstands, with nothing on the walls other than a TV. In my previous apartment, I had a pretty sage colored rug. however the new apartment has carpeted rooms so there was no need to double up.
Bland. That’s the best way to describe it.

“Real comfort, visual and physical, is vital in every room
The concept has been simple: add lots of pillows, soften the lighting while making a statement with the lamps, and introduce some color.
With the change in seasons, I wanted to incorporate warmer colors, I’m usually very drawn to tans and greens in the Fall so that seemed like the obvious mixture for me. In regards to fixtures, I wanted to play off of the warmer, inviting tones, so gold made the most sense.
The Details
For inserts and most solid color items, Amazon is my go-to. I have a king bed, so I went with 3 26×26 inch pillows, 2 gusseted standard queen pillows, and my favorite lumbar pillow whos sizing is unique to Pottery Barn.
To add weight and fluff to the bed, I ordered a second comforter. I had seen something online regarding stuffing two comforter inserts into one duvet cover however my inserts are feather down so they looked way to lumpy for my liking. Instead, I purchased two seperate covers and layered them. Then to tie in the look, I added a green coverlet.
Instead of table lamps, I opted for wall sconces instead. My nightstands are small as is, so I wanted more surface available for us. These lamps from Amazon weren’t originally plug in, but because we rent, hardwired lights weren’t an option. I’m lucky enough to have a very handy husband who finagled the wires in order to achieve the look I wanted.
