Jay’s Travel Bucket List

Traveling has become a huge part of my life, as the days pass and the seasons change my mind travels to all the places I dream of experiencing and all the accomplishments I’ve yet to achieve. As I travel and experience things I never have, I feel as sense of refinement. As though every new experience open my eyes to who I am, and who I’m meant to be. My greatest fear is not death, it’s never having lived. With that said, there are few places that have captivated my imagination, some from an early age, others more recent. Yet they all give me a sense of wonder. Enough of me rambling, here are my top 5 in no particular order.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Im a city boy from Boston, born and raised, yet the charm from this part of my country has always enchanted me. From its rich French Creole history, to its cajun foods, and its mystical culture of which doctors practicing voodoo. It always gave me a sense of fantasy. Also this trip was so close to happening this year because it coincided with Mardi Gras and Wrestlemania this year! A dream vacation! We ended up making plans to Albania before we knew all this. I’m still bitter. All in due time though.

England – France

So I know I’m kind of cheating here with two countries in one but it’s how we want to do it. In recent years I’ve gotten really into soccer and my favorite team has become Manchester United. I was groomed to like them by my bestfriend so now I’m stuck with them. Any how I want to make it a point to catch a Man Utd. match while I’m out there. Aside from that I was always more of a history buff when it came to school and this trip really plays to my interest. There are few places with a richer preserved history than England, and France. Not to mention the fact that there’s a train that takes you straight from one to the other. Makes it a perfect getaway for a couple like us. We normally keep or vacations no longer than seven days, mostly due to work so our vacations are always action packed with little time to do it all, but I think we prefer it that way.

Alaska

So I’ve never shied away from the cold, growing up in Boston, you either learn to love or hate the cold, and snow. I love both, luckily I don’t have to live through year round winter but I can sure make a week of it. I don’t know how many of you readers ever saw Balto as a child. It was about a sled dog in Alaska, any ways in the movie there’s a scene with the northern lights and since then I’ve been dying to see them. Might not make sense to anyone else but it stayed with me, and knowing that even if you go to Alaska there’s no certainty that you’ll see them makes it that much more fascinating to me.

Colorado

I think that when Redina and I are ready to settle down somewhere, we’ll trade in our skyscrapers for beautiful natural landscape. The White River national Forest  just has a certain glow. We’re both pretty much introverts and being secluded in our own little world is just heaven to us. I can’t wait to rent a cabin in the middle of nowhere and take in the scenic views. We’re also getting really into hiking lately and this is a great place to go for trails, hiking, or backpacking.

Havasupai Falls, Arizona

Speaking of backpacking. Havasupai Falls is one of the goals we’re working towards right now. We haven’t been focused enough on our bodies the years leading up to now. But we’re looking to fix that. We’re running everyday. Shedding the pounds and gaining the stamina we need to accomplish these goals. Havasupai Falls is a literal hike through the desert to a natural oasis in the middle of the Grand Canyon. They say it’s not the destination it’s the journey, this place might be the outlier when it comes to that. You could take the trip in a helicopter there and back as well as stay in a hotel and you’re more than welcome to do that but, i don’t know, I kind of feel like we need to work for, and earn this one.

We are all on our own journey I encourage everyone to expand their horizon. Our experiences define us and if we choose to limit ourselves to only what we know, we’re doing ourselves an injustice. We should all try to live our best lives. So that’s what we’re going to do. Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed.
