When it comes to skincare, I’m usually very cautious. I hesitate on trying new things and I’m and super strict on washing my face morning and evening. Into my early twenties I used to get acne. So much so that in my last blog postregarding skincare, I was using medicated treatments prescribed by my dermatologist. The situation still stands where most new products result in a breakout so I’ve worked to curate the few products that work for me.
AM
In the morning, I start by washing my face with Urban Skin Rx 3 in 1 Even Tone Cleansing Bar which comes with two sponges that have a gentle scrub leaving my face feeling extra clean. I follow that by using the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA +BHA Pore-Tight Toner. The toner tightens the pores but also gives me a really nice glow. Before I lotion, I use The Ordinary Caffeine 5% + ECGC Depuffing Eye Serum. Then I follow it up with the the CeraVe AM Face Moisturizer which has SPF 30 so I make sure to apply it to my neck and my chest.
PM
At night, I use the same products but swap out the moisturizer for The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. I also use the GrandeLASH – Lash Enhancing Serum and GrandeBROW – Brow Enhancing Serum. I wish I had taken a before photo of when I started using these two products but I swear I’ll never stop. My brows are finally growing hairs again and my lashes have gotten so long. I know they’re pricey but they’re super worth it. If you wanted to just do a trial, they have a Trial Set which will also last you forever (much longer than the “6 – 8 week supply”).
Spot Treatments
For the occasional breakouts, I like to spot treat. I start with applying The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque for 10 minutes on the problem spots. After that I apply the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion overnight. I also like to use Mighty Patch Pimple Patches when I have them on hand. If the pimple is particularly red and irritated the next day, I’ll apply Dr. Jart’s Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment to balance out the red before applying my makeup.
Bonus Products
- In the shower, I wash my face with the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. If I use the Cetaphil Daily Skin Cleanser, I break out.
- When my skin is feeling dull, I use the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleep Mask overnight. In the morning I’ll follow that by using Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops.
- For a more “awake” look when I don’t plan on wearing makeup, I use Origins Ginzing Vitamin C Eye Cream.
- Then every so often, I like to use AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution

I’m a lover of new products so I wish I didn’t have super sensitive skin. Ideally, I’d be able to freely explore all the pretty bottles on the shelves. In reality, it’s probably best for my bank account that I’m too chicken to do so. It takes forever to mend a breakout once it start, so I really try to avoid it. When I do try new products, I’ll only try one new thing at a time and introduce it slowly.
I like the list seems long but it works for me and I’m usually happy with how my skin looks. Let me know if you try / have tried any of these!
