This year in general must have been the most adventurous year we’ve ever had. I read through our last few Top 3’s and every month we say it’s been crazy for us. July wasn’t any different. In fact, I think for the month of July we had the opportunity to be selfish with our time and we took advantage of it to the fullest. Every weekend we were somewhere new. Every night we were out and about. Every day we were planning for the next thing. July was our month for exploring new found passions and working on things we enjoyed and things we wanted to improve on.
Fishing Trips
Towards the end of June, Jay got really into fishing. So naturally our entire house became filled with all sorts of lures, lines, rods, reels, boxes – anything you could think of. In July, we spent an average of 5 nights a week, at a new lake, pond, dock, or river. At first, I would set up a book or my laptop, we’d get food, and then I’d hang out while Jay fished, but then I decided to give it a shot and all of a sudden it became something we fell in love with together. Hell, I can’t even recall the last Saturday that we even slept in because we were up at 4 or 5 just to go get those early morning catches in.
Joanna Gaines – Magnolia Table Cookbook
I can proudly say that I cooked at home at least 6 times last month. The inspiration was in part sparked by my newest cookbook. I came across it at BJ’s but I didn’t get it right away. I said, I shouldn’t spend $20 on a new cook book when I don’t cook, but I spent a few minutes reading the intro and I was hooked. I thought about it for a few days then that weekend, I went to buy it. It was my go to for meals right now and it sparks even more inspo to be a better cook so that I can cook for my family in the future with recipes they’ll love.
Road Trip through Northern Massachusetts
Our road trip through part of our state was a really good wrap up to the month. We’ve always been really meticulous about our trips. We look up what we’re going to do. We always have things booked months in advance. We know where to go, what’s happening in that area, etc. This was completely different. As Jay said in his post, we always venture to go explore other states, when we haven’t even explored most of ours. Both of us have been to Western Mass at different times, but to take the time to explore the small cities in between was completely different. It made us realize that sometimes flying by the seat of your pants isn’t a bad thing. Even in places that don’t seem interesting, you’ll find something to do and something new to see.
Honorable mentions for July would also be the two trips we took down to Cape Cod to hang out with my family for 4th of July week. It had been a while since we all got together so we had a blast with everyone, despite the 4 hour traffic we ran into on the way back. Another would be our first time going down to Bass Pro Shops in Foxboro, Ma. That place is like a world of its own and if Jay was writing this post it’ would’ve been first on his list. 🙂
Well there you have it. Our top 3 for July. We’re on to August where I’ll be brainstorming all fall related plans and decorations because it’ll be here before I know it and my big orange fall decoration storage box needs some new friends to welcome it out on September 1st.
