Self Care Sunday

I truly believe Sunday’s are everybody’s favorite day of the week. No matter the weather. No matter the plans. Time moves slower on Sunday’s. No one judges you for the time you wake up or whether you decide to spend your day in your pajamas or get all dolled up just for Sunday Brunch. For me, Sunday nights are the best. After handling miscellaneous things all over the house as well as meal-prepping, I always use the last couple of hours to regroup before handling the week ahead.

Sunday nights start with a hot shower. It’s actually the longest one I take all week. I clean all the dry shampoo out of my hair, exfoliate, and shave. I make sure I’m the last one  showering that night because I tend to use up all the hot water. Then once I get out, I apply a really thick body lotion all over before putting on pajamas to lock in the moisture. It might sound gross to some people, but with freezing New England temps, my skin just gets so dry it literally starts to crack so this step is super important for me.

Next I cleanse my face (no, I don’t wash my face in the shower. I don’t know why.) After cleansing I use another exfoliant for my face. I’ve been using this one once a week for about a two months and I personally feel like it’s made a huge difference in my skin texture. Then I apply whatever face masks I may have picked up, followed by regular face lotion.

While I have on a face mask, I take cares of my nails. Cleaning off the old polish, I cut my cuticles, then cut and shape the nails, before applying a fresh coat of polish.

I don’t do anything with my hair other than apply a repairing balm and lately i’ve just been putting it in two braids so that it can air dry overnight.

There you have it. Short but sweet. I’m able to take a few hours and just focus on myself, my body, and my mind.

I hope this provides a tiny bit of inspiration to take that much needed time and do some things that are just for you and get your week started off right!
